Artwork > Street Ware

This series focused on the streets and sidewalks of my small city. The patterns on these pieces were created by man and nature working in disharmony; as the concrete and pavement weathered, men tried to patch the cracks which created an opportunity for me to catch this "disruption" in clay. Slabs of clay were rolled onto the surface and into the cracks and pockmarks inherent in the sidewalk and street.

It was a short step to considering manhole covers, water main outlets, the covers on underground gas storage tanks...anything that covered something in the road leaves an impression.
